It is a benign anorectal region disease characterized by the accumulation of hairs under the skin, usually in the coccyx, mostly in men. Although it is a benign disease, accompanying complaints such as pain, discharge and bad odor affect the quality of life negatively. Risk factors include obesity, excessive sweating, excessive hairy body structure, sitting for long hours, nevertheless it can occur in any body type. Due to its anatomical location, it is likely to become infected. Most of the patients refer to the physician with infection or abscess formation. However, it is more appropriate to seek attention before these complications occur, to facilitate the treatment process.
Common complaints such as pain, discharge, itching, swelling and bleeding in the perianal area are mostly due to benign diseases.
